How Apollo Trommels Work

Juice is fed into a rotating wedge wire drum. Liquid passes smoothly through continuous V-shaped slots, while fibers and solids are retained and discharged. Rotation, slot geometry, and spray bars ensure self-cleaning operation for uninterrupted throughput.

Key Design Features

• Flow direction options: In-to-Out or Out-to-In, depending on plant layout.
• Slot orientation: Axial or circumferential, selected based on duty requirements.
• Slot sizes: 0.20 mm to 0.80 mm (typical ranges: 0.2–0.5 mm for clarified juice; 0.5–0.8 mm for mixed juice).
• Sizes: Diameters 800–3000 mm, lengths 1000–9000 mm (customized per TCD).
• Materials:SS304, SS316L as standard; Duplex 2205/2507 available for corrosive environments.
• Construction:Fully welded wedge wire cylinder with stiffeners, end-rings, running rings, flights, and spray bars.
• Surface finish:Pickled and passivated; optional food-grade finishing with Ra value targets.
