Clariflocculator

Raw water enters the clariflocculator through a central feed well, where rapid mixing ensures thorough dispersion of coagulants such as alum, ferric chloride, or polymers. This destabilizes suspended particles and initiates floc formation. The water then flows into a gentle flocculation zone, where slow mechanical mixers or hydraulic flocculators promote the growth of flocs through mild agitation. Following flocculation, water moves into the settling or clarification zone. Gravity causes the heavier flocs to settle to the tank bottom while clarified water overflows through peripheral weirs. Settled sludge accumulates and is periodically removed via sludge scrapers and withdrawal systems.
