Header Lateral System

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Precision-Engineered Wedge Wire Solutions for Pressure Vessel Flow Distribution

 What is a Header–Lateral / Hub–Lateral System?

Apollo’s Header–Lateral and Hub–Lateral systems are screened manifold assemblies designed to ensure uniform collection and distribution of process streams inside pressure vessels.

Using wedge wire screen laterals, these systems deliver:

  • Predictable flow distribution
  • Accurate media retention
  • High structural strength
  • Long service life even in demanding conditions

Header–Lateral System:
Laterals extend from a central header pipe.
Ideal for flat-bottom or horizontal vessels.

Hub–Lateral System:
Laterals radiate outward from a central hub.
Best suited for elliptical or dished vessel heads.

Applications Across Industries

Industry / Sector Typical Applications
Water Treatment DM / softeners / mixed beds, sand & anthracite filters, carbon towers
Power Plants Condensate polishing, cooling water filters, guard filters
Food & Beverage Carbon decolorization, polishing filters
Oil & Gas / Refining Amine filters, catalyst retention, polishing filters

Benefits of Apollo Wedge Wire Laterals vs Perforated & PVC Laterals

A) Wedge Wire vs Perforated Laterals

Feature Wedge Wire Lateral Perforated Pipe Lateral
Slot Geometry Continuous V-wire → self-cleaning Straight holes → choke easily
Open Area 25–60% 8–15%
Flow Distribution Highly uniform Uneven flow paths
Media Retention Precise (30 µm onwards) Weak fine media retention
Strength High collapse resistance Medium
Performance Under Backwash Excellent Moderate
Durability Very long life Moderate life
B) Wedge Wire vs PVC Laterals

Feature Wedge Wire Lateral PVC Lateral
Temperature Resistance Excellent (hot water, condensate) Poor (softens or deforms)
Chemical Compatibility Suitable for brine, solvents, hydrocarbons Limited chemical resistance
Strength Very high Low — prone to cracking
Slot Accuracy ±0.025–0.05 mm Inconsistent
Lifespan 10–20+ years Short (UV, pressure & thermal aging)
Flow Efficiency High open area Low–medium open area
Industrial Suitability Power, oil/gas, chemical, mining Small FRP or plastic filters
Summary
Apollo’s Header–Lateral and Hub–Lateral assemblies offer:
Superior flow distribution
• High mechanical strength
• Precise slot control
• Long-term reliability
• Major performance advantages over perforated & PVC laterals

These systems ensure maximum efficiency, minimum downtime, and long service life across all water treatment and process industries.
